2.1 Faculty Appointments

Appointments to faculty positions are made at the following ranks: assistant professor, associate professor without tenure, associate professor with tenure, and professor. The ranks of assistant professor and associate professor without tenure are considered tenure track appointments, and the ranks of associate professor with tenure and professor are tenured appointments. In the Athletics Department, faculty appointments are made at the ranks of assistant professor/coach, associate professor/coach, and associate professor/senior coach; no current appointments or promotions to these ranks include tenure. Procedures for appointment and promotion to the faculty ranks within the Athletics Department differ somewhat from those described in Section 3.0 Faculty Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure Guidelines. The Director of Athletics should be consulted for details.
