12.4 Use of Institute Letterhead

This page was last updated more than five years ago. See the update history page for more information.

Use of the Institute letterhead for personal or professional correspondence occasionally causes embarrassment or could subject the Institute to liability, since communications using the Institute letterhead sometimes are assumed erroneously to be official Institute statements. Institute or departmental letterheads should be reserved for correspondence regarding Institute affairs. Personal professional correspondence should not carry the name of the Institute, but may list a room number at 77 Massachusetts Avenue as a return address.
